Another Alia Bhatt Deepfake Goes Viral, Fans Express Concern Over AI

Alia Bhatt has once again become a victim of deepfake technology, sparking concern and outrage over its misuse.

In a new deepfake video shared on Instagram, Alia Bhatt appears to be participating in the ‘get ready with me’ trend. The video shows her dressing in a black kurta and applying makeup.

This isn’t the first instance of Alia Bhatt being targeted by deepfake videos on social media. Previously, a viral deepfake video merged Alia Bhatt’s face with that of actor Wamiqa Gabbi. Another deepfake portrayed a woman making lewd gestures with Alia Bhatt’s morphed face.

Instagram users have voiced their concerns about these deepfake videos, highlighting the dangers of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

“AI is becoming increasingly dangerous,” remarked one user. Another expressed fear, stating, “I’m starting to get scared of AI now.” A concerned follower of Alia Bhatt urged, “I hope proper consent is obtained for using AI that involves real human faces.”

Deepfakes are synthetic media created using AI algorithms, capable of manipulating both visual and audio elements.

Previously, deepfake videos of various celebrities, including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Sara Tendulkar, have surfaced online.

The government has instructed all intermediaries, including social media platforms like Instagram and X, to ensure compliance with the IT Act’s prohibition on circulating prohibited content, aiming to combat the alarming trend of deepfakes.

According to the government’s guidelines, the creation and dissemination of deepfakes can lead to severe penalties, including fines up to ₹1 lakh and imprisonment for up to three years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also raised concerns about the misuse of AI for creating deepfake videos, emphasizing the need for responsible technology use in the era of Artificial Intelligence.
